O mark-up é o lucro exorbitante (diferença entre preço do monopólio e o Cmg no gráfico). Se a demanda é muito elástica, o monopólio não consegue cobrar um preço muito alto (menor mark-up) em relação ao mercado perfeito. Portanto, menor o poder do monopólio. Assim, de acordo com a regra de mark-up, quanto mais preço-inelástica for a curva de demanda do mercado, maior será o poder de mercado do monopolista.
Ressalto que o MARK UP se refere ao mercado monopolista. Nesse mercado a firma somente atua na parte elástica da curva de demanda. No entanto, quanto mais próximo a EPD estiver de UM maior será o poder do monopólio.
QUESTÃO CERTA: Em um mercado monopolista, quanto menor for a elasticidade-preço da demanda de um bem, maior será a capacidade da empresa monopolista de fixar o preço do bem acima do seu custo marginal.
Mark-Up: É a margem do preço que está acima do custo marginal
Mark-Up = P/Cmg
Mark-Ip = [1/1–(1/|Epd|)]
Quanto mais elástica = menos poder o monopólio tem de fixar o preço do bem acima do seu custo marginal
Quanto mais inelástica = mais poder o monopólio tem de fixar o preço do bem acima do seu custo marginal
QUESTÃO ERRADA: Em uma economia, a tecnologia de uma empresa monopolista para produção de determinado bem é descrita pela função custo total CT = 10 + 20q + q2 , em que q é a quantidade produzida do bem. A demanda de mercado por esse mesmo bem é dada por q = 200 – p, em que q é a quantidade demandada do bem e p, o seu preço de mercado. Com base nessa situação hipotética, julgue os itens que se seguem. O markup da firma monopolista é de 45 unidades monetárias.
MKp = P / CMg = 1,45 ou 45%
No caso, preciso achar o P em questão , bem como o CMg.
(1) Para achar P:
q = 200 – p ==> -p = q – 200 (-) ==> p = 200 – q
(2) Cálculo da RMg
RT = p x q ==> RT = ( 200 – q) x q ==> RT = 200q – q^2
RMg = 200 – 2q (a RMg é achada derivando a RT)
(3) Cálculo do CMg
CT = 10 + 20q + q^2
CMg = 20 + 2q (o CM é achado quando da derivação do CT)
(4) Agora, iguala RMg = CMg
200 -2 q = 20 + 2q ==> 200 – 20 = 2q + 2q ==> 180 = 4q ==> q = 180 / 4 ==> q = 45 (proooonto, até que enfim achamos o valor de q ; agora, vamos usar esse resultado para achar ‘p’ no passo (1):
p = 200 – q ==> p = 200 – 45 ==> p = 155
(5) depois de efetuado os cálculos acima, temos condições de usar a fórmula do Mark Up:
MKp = P / CMg ==> MKp = 155 / 20 + 2q ==> MKp = 155/20 + 2(45) ==> MKp = 155/110 ==> MKp = 1,409= 1,41
Ou seja, o Mark Up dessa firma monopolista é de 41%.
