QUESTÃO ERRADA: Se a curva de Engel é positivamente inclinada, então o bem em análise é inferior.

A curva de engel nos mostra graficamente a relação entre a quantidade demanda de um bem X com a renda do consumidor (Demandada X Renda). Assim, temos:

1) para um bem normal: quanto maior é a renda, maior é a qtdd demandada (curva positivamente inclinada)

2) para um bem inferior: quanto maior é a renda, menor é a qtdd demandada (curva negativamente inclinada)

 

Logo, a questão erra ao associar curva positivamente inclinada com bem inferior.

Possíveis gráficos da curva de Engel:

Reto e positivamente inclinada: bem normal;

Reto e negativamente inclinada: bem inferior e Giffen;

Encurvada para cima e positivamente inclinada: bem superior;

ERRADO. A curva positivamente inclinada é uma característica de bens normais. Como ela descreve a relação entre a quantidade demandada de um bem e a renda do consumidor, ela deve ser positivamente inclinada.

QUESTÃO ERRADA: A curva de Engel é uma representação gráfica que relaciona o montante arrecadado pelo governo por intermédio de impostos com as diferentes alíquotas que podem ser aplicadas.

Uma curva de Engel descreve como a despesa das famílias num determinado bem ou serviço varia de acordo com o rendimento familiar. Pelo conceito exposto na questão, trata-se, na verdade, da curva de Laffer, que é uma representação teórica da relação entre o valor arrecadado pelo governo com um imposto a diferentes alíquotas aplicadas.

A curva de Engel relaciona tão somente a renda e a demanda por determinado bem.

A curva de Laffer é, em economia, uma representação teórica, como podemos ver pelo gráfico, da relação entre o valor conseguido em impostos pelo governo e todas as suas hipóteses de taxação. Este conceito é usado para ilustrar o conceito de “elasticidade da receita taxável”

QUESTÃO ERRADA: A curva de Engel relaciona a quantidade consumida de uma mercadoria ao nível de renda. No caso de um bem normal, a inclinação da curva de Engel será descendente.

Para o caso de bens normais, a curva de Engel possuirá inclinação positiva. A inclinação negativa é observada apenas para os bens inferiores. Quanto maior a renda, mais se consumirá bens normais (ex.: roupas); e menos os bens inferiores (ex.: carne de segunda qualidade).

Para bens normais, ela será positivamente inclinada (ascendente);

Para bens inferiores, ela será negativamente inclinada (descendente).

QUESTÃO ERRADA: Devido à lei dos rendimentos decrescentes, a curva de Engel tem inclinação positiva cada vez menos acentuada à medida que cresce o nível de renda do consumidor.

A lei dos rendimentos decrescentes está associada à produção de CURTO PRAZO para a empresa. A curva de Engel, por sua vez, relaciona a renda e a quantidade consumida pelo consumidor.

A curva de Engel não tem relação com a lei dos rendimentos decrescentes (que se estuda na teoria da produção). O que sabemos é que a curva de Engel pode ser positiva (bem normal) ou negativamente inclinada (bem inferior).

Rendimentos decrescentes: teoria da firma. “Produto marginal decrescente: propriedade pela qual o produto marginal de um insumo declina à medida que a quantidade do insumo aumenta.” (MANKIW, 2001, p. 273).

Curva de Engel: mede a quantidade demandada de um bem em função da renda. “Bem normal: bem para o qual um aumento na renda é seguido por uma elevação na quantidade consumida”

“Bem inferior: um bem é inferior se o consumidor o comprar em menor quantidade quando sua renda aumenta” (MANKIW, 2001, p. 473).

QUESTÃO ERRADA: Se um bem é normal para qualquer classe de rendimentos, então a curva de Engel é negativamente inclinada.

A curva de Engel relaciona o rendimento (eixo Y) e a quantidade procurada de determinado bem (eixo X).

Então, para bens normais o aumento do rendimento gera aumento da procura -> inclinação positiva

Para bens inferiores, o aumento do rendimento gera redução da procura -> inclinação negativa

Se o bem é normal, então a curva de Engel será positivamente inclinada, denotando que renda e demanda caminham na mesma direção; se a renda aumenta, a demanda aumenta.

QUESTÃO ERRADA: Um consumidor possui função utilidade dada por U = u(x, y) e restrição orçamentária igual a R = pxx + pyy, em que R representa a renda do consumidor e px e py, ambos positivos, representam, respectivamente, os preços dos bens x e y. Supondo que esse consumidor se encontra em situação de equilíbrio, maximizando sua função utilidade a partir de sua restrição orçamentária, julgue os itens seguintes. Caso o bem x seja um bem inferior, a curva de Engel desse bem será positivamente inclinada.

É o contrário. Se o bem é normal é positivamente inclinada, se for inferior é negativamente inclinada. Curva de Engel apresenta uma relação entre Renda e Quantidade.

Se mantivermos fixos os preços dos bens 1 e 2 e observamos como a demanda do bem 1 varia à medida que a renda varia (MANTENDO OS PREÇOS FIXOS), geraremos uma curva chamada de curva de Engel.

Se a inclinação é positiva, então quando a renda aumenta a demanda do bem 1 também aumenta. Se isso acontece, o bem é normal.

Se a inclinação é negativa, então quando a renda aumenta a demanda do bem 1 cai. Se isso acontece, o bem é inferior.

A curva de Engel relaciona a demanda de um bem em relação à renda do consumidor. Caso o bem seja inferior, isso significa que aumentos na renda do consumidor provocam redução na demanda desse bem. Como você já deve ter percebido, para bens inferiores, temos uma relação inversa entre renda e demanda, motivo pelo qual a curva de Engel é negativamente inclinada (e não positivamente inclinada como afirma a questão).
